CHICAGO- State Senator Ram Villivalam announced Tuesday that Lincolnwood will see $239,249 to replace 27 lead service lines thanks to the funds appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
“The health and well-being of our neighbors is a continued top priority,” said Villivalam (D-Chicago). “With this funding, our community will see essential upgrades to our water system that will prevent lead from being in our water and the detrimental impact that it has on our physical health.”
Lincolnwood is one of six communities approved for lead line replacement as part of IEPA’s State Revolving Fund for a total of $32,427,103 low-interest loan funding for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. This funding is provided as zero-percent interest loans to ensure the community does not incur interest fees while the loan is being repaid.
