SPRINGFIELD ─ After hearing the governor’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2027, State Senator Ram Villivalam (D-Chicago) released the following statement:
“The proposed budget provides an initial framework that prioritizes working-class families, education for our youth and ensures that critical services our community members rely on continue to stay accessible and affordable for all.
“At a time when the Trump Administration is gutting and holding funding to essential programs such as SNAP, healthcare, or energy projects, I am committed to putting our residents first and ensuring Illinois is a place where everyone can live long, healthy lives with access to opportunity.
“I will always work to ensure there is robust funding for home care for our seniors and people with disabilities, child care assistance for working families, services that help our immigrant neighbors, and a quality education for our youth.
“I look forward to collaborating alongside my colleagues and principally advocating for a budget that ensures residents have access to the resources and services they need to thrive, not just survive.”
