CHICAGO-In response to reports of an alleged mass shooting plot targeting a Hindu temple in Aurora, State Senator Ram Villivalam (D-Chicago) issued the following statement:
“I am deeply disturbed by reports of an alleged mass shooting plot targeting a Hindu place of worship in Aurora. No one should ever have to fear violence or hatred because of their faith, race or cultural background.
“I am grateful to the individuals who came forward to report the intended attack and to the Palatine and Mount Prospect police departments and the FBI for their swift action to protect the community. Hate and white supremacy have no place in Illinois. We must stand together in rejecting hate and extremism and ensuring that every person can practice their faith and live without fear.”
SPRINGFIELD ─ State Senator Ram Villivalam spearheaded a new law that establishes regulations for the use of toy vehicles, motor-driven bicycles and other small, low-speed electric mobility devices in Illinois.
“Technology is evolving, providing expanded mobility options for our neighbors through the rise in popularity of e-bikes and scooters,” said Villivalam (D-Chicago). “But without clear regulations for these devices, we are seeing increased injuries and accidents – jeopardizing community safety.”
SPRINGFIELD ─ State Senator Ram Villivalam backed a new law that paves the way for increased data, transparency and accountability on toxic polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS or “forever chemicals,” in wastewater.
“Toxic chemicals pose a public health threat to our communities, especially when they are found in wastewater runoff,” said Villivalam (D-Chicago). “Meanwhile, wastewater treatment facilities are underprepared to understand, treat or regulate these chemicals in their families because they lack the proper tools and framework.”
CHICAGO – State Senator Ram Villivalam is proud to announce three organizations in the 8th District will be receiving over $200,000 for literacy program enhancements, workplace skills development and more.
“The organizations receiving this funding are hubs of community engagement, bringing residents together through programming and access to knowledge,” said Villivalam (D-Chicago). “These grants will ensure our vibrant community centers will be able to provide literacy programs and increase accessible workforce development programs right here in our district.”
